Album Notes

Twice As Good's second album, produced by Phil Ellis, is a masterpiece of the Blues as well as many other styles featured on the album. This album was truly done for the fans who faithfully come to the shows to see the band tear the house down on these numbers.

As Charlie Musselwhite spoke of the music, "Good real deal Blues". It also is a way for 2XG to also honor the great artists that inspired them. Elmore James, Magic Slim, Albert Collins, Gatemouth Brown, Albert King, Hound Dog Taylor, Big Joe Turner, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ace Cannon, Santana, even a male version of the fabulous Etta James's "I'd Rather Go Blind". Even a hint of 2XG's fondness of country on the George Strait tear-jerker, "What's Goin' On In Your World".

Review by Bill Dahl

Clearwater wrote the lion's share of this well-produced collection, reaching back for material by Jimmy Reed, Otis Rush, and Willie Mabon to round it out. The usual infectious mix of shimmering West Side blues, hauling rockabilly, and even a touch of funk on "Little Bit of Blues." Guitarist Will Crosby shares lead chores with his boss, and Carey Bell (Eddy's cousin) handles the harp work.

Genre: Blues
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 01:16:02
Size: 173,96 MB

Review by Scott Yanow

Joe Moss has always loved the blues. By the time he was 15, the singer/guitarist was playing seven nights a week throughout Chicago and he often still works as many as 28 gigs a month. While his previous CDs have been almost strictly blues, on Maricela's Smile Moss stretches himself beyond blues, performing soul ballads, R&B-ish jams, and even touches of jazz. The liner note writer (Mike O'Cull of the Illinois Entertainer) is almost apologetic and defensive in describing Moss' desire to move beyond only playing 12-bar blues, but this is a natural evolution for blues performers. What is important is that Moss keeps the spirit of the blues as his base, he sings with a lot of feeling and sensitivity, he writes excellent songs (11 of the 13 selections are his originals), his guitar solos often sting, and there are a few more straightforward blues included along the way. Open-minded blues listeners will enjoy this well-rounded set, which is topped off by a lengthy live version of "Ain't Got No Money."

Their studio work is great, but the live show is pure energy. Their version of Jump Jive and Wail is better by far than the "popular" version you'll see on MTV. Eat A Peach 2001 Bound To Shine

Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:49:08
Size: 112,37 MB

United States

Album Notes

Every now and then, fate graces the world of music and brings together a combination of natural talent that stands out among today's noise and confusion. Eat A Peach was born to bring a modern concept to the high standards of the classic rock sound. Melodic guitar harmonies, soaring keyboard solos and dynamic rhythms weave in and out of their collection of down-to-earth original creations.

Eat A Peach began to take form in 1995 when founding member Curt Sanders and a group of musicians got together with the intent of paying tribute to one of their many influences. Steadily growing as a independent band, this group of well-rounded, multi-diversified musicians began adding their own original material into their shows as they entertained at local establishments, benefits, festivals and private parties throughout Indiana and Illinois.

With the completion of their 1999 debut CD, 'Turbulence & Thunder' came the opportunity to open for such great artists as Carlos Santana, The Marshall Tucker Band, Roger Waters and Blue Oyster Cult. They have also had the privilege to work with such production companies as SFX Entertainment, Jam Productions and Limited Access Entertainment.

Keeping their roots held firm in southern flavored, bluesy rock, Eat a Peach has broken new ground with 'Bound to Shine', adding new dimension to already fertile territory and giving them the opportunity to tour the Midwest & South Eastern USA including a performance on The Chicago FOX Bandstand at The Annual Taste of Chicago and recently as the opening support act for Jakob Dylan & The Wallflowers at the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Indiana, Jimmie Van Zant, Warner Bros. Country Recording Artist, Trick Pony and Southern Rockers, Jackyl.

'Bound to Shine' is the second release from "The Peach" and reflects their solid commitment to the spirit of music and the passions it yields.

Eat A Peach has won several local and regional awards including, "Most Promising Artist of 2000" and "Top 3 Artists of 2001" at the Annual Midwest Music Awards.

One thing is certain, Eat A Peach music is addictive, bringing fans back for more with songs written and performed to perfection. From mellow jams to danceable rockers, they've captured the spirit of music.

Colosseum 1970 The Grass Is Greener

Genre: Progressive Rock
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:38:36
Size: 88,40 MB

Review by Sean Trane

This hybrid album is a North American release only and a sort of bastardised products with a mix of tracks released elsewhere but in a different version and a different line-up. It even takes the artwork from the Valentyne Suite album, and an almost similar inner gatefold also. Yet in my eyes, this album is much deserving many attention from fans (and even almost the right to be an full-blown studio album in their discography) as there are two completely new tracks , two more that were to be featured on the double Live album, and from the four remaining tracks, three are a different version than the ones you can get on the two UK releases. As this album states, Clem Clempson is now the guitarist and Butty Litherland only appears on one track, the superb Elegy. But clearly Clempson is not a good lead vocalist, although he is fine back-up vocalist), and it is no wonder the Colosseum will be hiring Chris Farlowe for the next full release.

Jumping Off The Sun is a very interesting tracks loaded with vibes and bells and great time sig, but Clempson's voice can do no match to what Litherland or Farlowe would've done for this track. Lost Angeles is yet another very interesting but not well exploited idea, and if you compare to the extended live version of Colosseum Live, it will pale in comparison, but it is still superb on this vinyl, as you can hear the greatness of the Greenslade/DHS composition. Elegy might just be the only tracl present on this album that might come in the same previously available one, although slightly shorter. Butty's Blues is another track from Valentyne Suite, but stick with the previous version, as Clempson's vocals are no match for Litherland's and there is a full blown big band on the other .

The Jack Bruce-track Rope Ladder To The Moon is the first of a few tracks that will have Pete Brown lyrics and if the instrumentation is great (especially Greenslade's percussions) the greatly expanded-live version with Chris Farlowe is more impressive. Bolero is is unavailable-elsewhere track and might just be the first example of Ravel's piece with rock instrumentation, a few months before Crimson's and two full years before ELP's. It is probably the best version of all three because it is the one straying farthest from the monotony of Ravel's piece. Machine is a shorter version of the track on Valentyne Suite. The last track is the third movement of the Valentyne Suite that hat had been released in North America as The Ides Of March on the first UK release. Did you say confusing? ;-(

Although this album is a bit lost in the jungle, it was never released as a CD on either side of the Atlantic, but recently new expanded re-issue of Valentyne Suite with the tracks from both album was issued. I can only warmly recommend it if you do not own the album yet, and if you do already and you are a major fan of Colosseum, you might just have to dip in your pocket again.
