I absolutely love this cd. It is the perfect album - you will never get tired of listening to it. Jr Watson on guitar is perfection and pair it with Lynwood Slim's smooth voice and it doesn't get any better than this. Don't pass this cd up. (bluesgirl)

Social Media/Internet Radio station Blues102.com has raised the bar again starting in January Blues 102 will be adding an additional show to their list of programs, this show will be titled 'Half Pint Blues'.

Half Pint Blues will be a blues show targeted for kids. Kool Breeze, one of Blues 102's radio hosts, approached Blues 102 Program Director Bill Kenton with the idea. Bill immediately agreed saying, "This ties in to our mission statement of supporting the blues and doing our part to keeping the genre alive and flourishing. It's the children that legacy will fall to." Kool Breeze adds that, "It's all about the kids."

Gizmo Media Stations management team, Rich Strunck, Katrina Kenton, and Bill Kenton are extremely excited about the Half Pint Blues offering including the initiative and follow through exhibited by Kool Breeze. Said Bill, "She has a great idea and she's taken the ball and is running with it."

Kool Breeze has been in contact with multiple artists from around the country gathering music for the show which will primarily be geared towards elementary to middle school age children. The show is scheduled to begin on January 5th and will air at 5pm EST on Mondays and Wednesdays, lasting up to 30 minutes.

Mary Flower 2000 Blues Jubilee

Genre: Blues

Time: 00:42:47
Size: 71,22 MB

Review by Bruce Eder

This record will probably be found in the folk section of your store, but don't let that fool you -- it's a dazzling piece of modern acoustic blues, with its feet in the '90s and the '30s and no stretch evident.

Flower covers Scrapper Blackwell's "Memphis Town," and Memphis Minnie's "Me and My Chauffeur Blues," and, most impressively, Robert Johnson's "Walking Blues" and Blind Lemon Jefferson's "Six White Horses" (which, in a fairer reality, would be the single off this album). Her playing, backed by Steve James, is dexterous and punchy, with some beautiful and subtle flourishes (Scrapper Blackwell will come to mind), and her singing is hard and deep, with none of the softness that normally betrays folkies who try to go this route. Her originals are strong, too, with "Long-Legged Daddy" the standout. She's a blueswoman and she means it.

01 - Memphis Town 03:22

Charlie Daniels Band 1975 Volunteer Jam II (From The First Full Length Southern Rock Motion Picture)

Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 192 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 01:58:09
Size: 162,31 MB

United States

In 1975, The Charlie Daniels Bnad performed the second of their Legendary Volunteer Jams at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This annual event featured a number of special guests including The Marshall Tucker Band, Dickey Betts and Chuck Leavell from the Allman Brothers Band, Jimmy Hall, Dru Lombar, Bill Hart, and Gary Peacemaker. Originally released as a feature move in 1976.

This video archive of the second "Volunteer Jam" captures The Charlie Daniels Band and many of their contemporaries at their best. Years before the mass appeal of the huge hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" in 1979, the CDB was gathering legions of fans the old-fashioned way...by writing and recording great music, but even more importantly, taking it to the people in live concerts. This concert captures that era and that spirit very well.

The list of songs shows how this band and so many others of that time wrote and recorded songs that included long and elaborate "jams" that made the songs last several minutes longer than your usual 3 to 4 minute pop radio hit. That's why this group and so many others didn't have many songs on the radio, but people still bought and enjoyed the heck out of their records. Funny how the CDB is still around, while the acts who had hits in the Top 40 at that time are largely forgotten.

Extended songs like "Birmingham Blues" and "No Place Left to Go" show that song style perfectly, mixing rock, country, blues and jazz all together in one song. Special guests from The Marshall Tucker Band, Dickie Betts from The Allman Brothers Band, and others make this concert even more special. (Gary D. Phillips)

Charlie Daniels Band 1978 Volunteer Jam III & IV

Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 192 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 01:13:28
Size: 100,91 MB

If you never saw the Charlie Daniels Band live in earlier days, or have only heard studio cuts, this is a must have album. It features some great live CDB cuts from the Saddle Tramp era, with the fat slide guitar of "Sweet Louisiana" and the furious guitar/fiddle finale on "Cumberland Mountain Number Nine" being my personal favorites. The 5 live CDB cuts show how great a musical tandem Charlie and Tommy Crain really were.

Side III features a top notch Willie Nelson set that is also very nice. Other highlights are Toy Caldwell's "Can't You See," then Allman Brothers pianist Chuck Leavell's jazz side project Sea Level plays a hot "Statesboro Blues" with Charlie on guest guitar. Wet Willie's "Street Corner Serenade" is a delightful vocal foray and a fun listen. "Sang Her Love Songs" by the long-forgotten Winter Brothers Band supported by then CDB members Taz DiGregorio and Don Murray, is beautifully played and comes in at a not too lengthy 8 minutes.

Its a forgotten gem of a record for my money. For fans of live music its a terrific blend of Southern rock, country, jazzy blues, and even some rockin' gospel during the show's finale. Wonderful music that has sadly gone largely unheard. (R. Demirjian "Rick D")
