I like this album. I like Angel. I was first turned-on to Angel Forrest when I saw her perform in Montreal a couple of years ago. She does a fabulous cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" (recorded on an earlier CD, Here for You, apparently not available in the U.S., but sold in Canada); and, she has dared to take-on Janice Joplin ... and win! What continues to hold appeal for me about Angel Forrest's performances--in spite of her limited exposure in the U.S.--is her versatility. Her style is a little bit jazz cabaret, a little classic rock, a little bit country, a little vintage R&B and, at times, folk/alternative. That you can't quite pigeon-hole Angel into a niche may trouble some people, but I like it and I like her. I'm glad to finally see Angel's music more widely available. (MizMac)
