Smokin' Gun:
The Real Deal Dueling Guitar Brand of Hard Blues & Boogie....
Smokin' Gun has been burning its brand of high-powered Southern Rock/Texas Blues on America's concert and night club scene since June of 1992 and is generally acknowledged to be the best blues band in the Pacific Northwest. With over two hundred years of musical experience between them, and a blazing history of encore performances, these veteran blues-rockers have defined a sound that turns the clock back to a time when bands put it all on the line to bare their souls for an audience.
In addition to being a regular feature at the premier blues clubs in historic Pioneer Square, Smokin' Gun regularly headlines numerous State festivals, Fairs, Clubs, Benefits, and Bike-runs. Their decade long history of electrifying appearances have honed their collective skills to razor sharp perfection, causing jaw-dropping performances when opening for national recording artists such as: Jeff Beck, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton, Grand Funk Railroad, 38 Special, Pat Benatar, Lover Boy, Creedence Clearwater, Foghat, The Marshall Tucker Band, Elvin Bishop, Molly Hatchet, Steppin Wolf, Kansas, Nazareth, Iron Buttefly, The Guess Who, Black Oak Arkansas, Leslie West & Mountain, Mark Farner, Georgia Sattelites, Atlanta Rythmn Section, Pat Travers, Rare Earth, The Southern Rock Allstars and numerous others.
Smokin' Gun's show repertoire features original, blistering compositions from their award winning compact discs, "Bad Luck Blues" and "Live Rounds", plus material from their soon to be released up-coming CD and their unique signature on timeless "Covers" from The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ-Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and other legends in blues-rock history.
The band's sound fuses southern rock and Texas blues which, when combined with their unique delivery and high energy, makes their live performances even better than their self-produced studio products. Shadow Promotions, which hosts the state's Annual Classic Rock Festival, describes Smokin' Gun as the best unsigned band in the Northwest. Gritz Magazine, the Southern-rock "Rolling Stone" describes Smokin' Gun as one of the finest unsigned bands in America..
Their first album, "Bad Luck Blues," won the 1998 Washington Blues Society "Best Northwest Recording." Their sophomore effort, "Live Rounds from Seattle," recorded live at The Central in Pioneer Square, was nominated for the 2001 Washington Blues Society Best Northwest Recording. Since that time, in response to requests and encouragement from disc jockeys, record store owners and fans who have discovered them, they have has decided to release a collection of covers on a 3rd CD they call, appropriately, "Runnin' For Cover". The band also received Best of the Blues nominations in 2001 for best band, best male vocalist, best guitar, best bass, best keyboards, and best drums. 2002 has brought them W.B.S. nominations for best bass, best keyboards, and best drums.
