New British rock and roll super group King Mob release debut album ‘Force 9’ in the US & Canada in digital format.
“…exotic tremolo guitars shimmer while echo-drenched vocals wrap themselves seductively around some 21st century boogie beats – and it rocks like a bastard. Can’t wait to see them live.” (Classic Rock Magazine)
“Think The Godfathers clashing with a slicker Alabama 3” (MOJO)
KING MOB is a brand new English beat combo comprising guitar legend Chris Spedding (Roxy Music, Elton John, John Cale, Paul McCartney), Martin Chambers – drums (Pretenders), Stephen W Parsons aka Snips – vocals (film composer and vocalist of legendary 70’s band Sharks) and introducing amazing young Japanese bassist Toshi Ogawa and hot new guitar talent Sixteen.
KING MOB began life when vocalist Stephen W Parsons approached his old friend Chris Spedding with the idea of forming a new band. Taking time out from his film career, Stephen found himself DJ-ing at London clubs, spinning old school music in the form of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Ike & Tina. Realising that these pre-1977 sounds were going down a storm with the younger crowd, Stephen’s passion for the excitement and energy of R&B was re-ignited and happily Chris Spedding agreed to come on board to form a new combo. Initially, Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Faces) was brought in for bass duties on the debut album.
Force 9 is an album that draws on the collective experience of all members to create something completely unique, from the sharp riffing of the first single “Selene Selene” to the truly infectious “VA VAH VOOM”. The band draw on the Spirit of ’69, bringing the raw power and spirit of that golden age of music into a contemporary. The album was recorded in four days.
FORCE 9 is now available in the USA and Canada through King Mob Recordings and Cadiz in digital format. US tour dates are currently being planned for 2012.
