With Somethin' Fell Off the House, Austin duo Old Gray Mule brings a ass pocket of whiskey to the Lone Star state with their hard-driving, instrumental blues inspired by North Mississippi hill country mainstays RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, and T-Model Ford. CR Humphrey (guitar) and Joe Falco (drums) take you down to Holly Springs, MS with tough one-chord boogies that will shake your house off its foundations.

No cheap imitations here -- these guys are the real deal, throwing down thick modal grooves on cleverly-titled originals like "Send Me Your Panties," "Odell Harris is Cool as Hell," and "Thanksgiving Boogie." Guest vocalist Mississippi Gray Carter joins the fray for "River's Up Y'all," the lone vocal cut, and the duo honor hill country patriarch Burnside with a rocking rendition of "Poor Black Mattie," recorded live at Armadillofest. Fans of Fat Possum's blues releases from the '90s would do well to add this fine album to their collection. (Roger Gatchet, Living Blues contributor)
