Album Notes

Peculiar Boogie combines early Stones and Zeppelin, boils it up with some Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin "into a shot as smooth and as intoxicating as Southern Comfort"- (Ginnie Getz, L.A. Girl Guide)

Sometimes raucous, sometimes weepy, the underlying theme always a groove (think Black Crowes/Rolling Stones). Peculiar Boogie raises the roof off ground floor clubs. With full steam ahead, torpedoes-be damned live performances, the 3 women and 2 men poor their guts into the songs summoning raw emotion like possessed snake charmers.
Lisa Marshall: lead vocals, bass, flute, harmonica. Only 5'2" belts 'em out like a gospel singer on Sunday. From Virginia, she was influenced by the big voiced women in rock to soul.

Rebekah Coltman: lead guitar, rhythm guitar, dobro, background vocals. Often referred to as a female Keith Richards, her boisterous and meticulous solos leave people searching for the bottom half of their jaws on the ground. Raised in S. California, at 8 years old she began playing classical guitar and soon began writing her own songs influenced by Led Zeppelin, Neil Young and of course The Rolling Stones.

Susan Joyner: keyboards, saxophone, guitar, bass, backing vocals.
A passionate performer on all instruments, she's a free spirited bad ass. Raised in S. California, the Doors let her fire, and soon she was playing keyboards in rocks bands quickly adding her talent on other instruments.

John Knecht: drums, djembe, percussion. With a sense of rhythm that is both primal and sensual, if you don't move when this boy plays you must be dead. John makes yearly trips to study djembe with the masters in Africa. He hails from New Jersey.

Clinton Calton III: bass, Raised in S. California, his dark rolling bass lines hurl up some attitude from the bottom. Influenced by Bowie and the OC punk sound, he also plays guitar in a popular L.A. punk band.
