I have to express my regret one more time for why such a great Bluesman as Byther Smith is getting so little acclaim when he deserves much, much more. This becomes obvious when listener dives into the Blues world of Byther Smith. Hold That Train is a good example. Recorded in 1981, this 15-track set delivers what is best in Delta rooted Chicago Blues. Dynamic guitar playing, slashing Delta style, clear and powerful vocals and overflowing emotion felt during the whole set - this is what the Blues is all about.

Every song, whether his original or well known classics like Willie Dixon's "300 Pounds Of Joy", Howlin' Wolf's "Killin' Floor" etc. becomes his songs. This is a sign of original artist which Byther Smith undoubtedly is.

Another great thing about Byther Smith is that listener does not become tired of his music, on the contrary, he gets pleasure from an hour to hour and asks for more. More than 60 minutes of raw Blues. Nobody can find a weak performance here. This is Byther Smith! (Dimitri)
