Appa's Bluespower 2000 6th Street
Genre: Blues
Rate: 160 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:28:21
Size: 32,48 MB
What do you get when you mix two musicians with over 80 years of experience and a jam sheet that includes legends from rock, blues and country? You get Appa's Blues Power. Michael "Appa" Perry and "Uncle" John Turner had been friends for awhile and one day they decided to put together a blues band.
Michael "Appa" Perry started playing tunes back in 1962 at the young age of 13. He picked up the bass guitar a few years later and has played with Tom Jones, Jeff Healey, Jimmie Dale Court, Alabama, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Jim Talbot and many others.
"Uncle" John Turner started playing drums professionally back in 1957. He's played behind Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B. B. King, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, Junior Wells and other who's who lists. He even played Woodstock and was inducted into the Texas Blues Music Hall of Fame. In Blues Power he drums, writes, and does vocals.
The band's CD, 6th Street, is nine tracks of fun original tunes. Beginning with "Shoulder Holster," written by Uncle John, "Shoulder Holster" is a tale about love gone astray. "Look in the closet baby, and bring my shoulder holster down. I see your husband up the street, might be some bullets flying round." With cool lyrics like that, a classic blues topic, and some killer guitar licks from Mike Keller, and ladies and gentlemen, we got us a blues song.
"Divorce Court on T.V." is another fun tune about real life blues and shows the band's sense of humor. Appa says, "'Astronaut Woman' was written by Uncle John for the space shuttle that flew over Austin one night." Mike Keller wrote and sings the fourth track "My Best Friend," that features keyboards from Matthew Farrell; both these guys are from the Keller Brothers Band. Appa wrote the slick instrumental "Get Straight," that features some electrifying guitar and keyboard work by the band.
Nick Gibson wrote the next tune, "Off the Bottom," and he also plays second guitar. Listen for the slide! Track 7, written and sung by Matthew Farrell is a slow paced tune called "Baby You Made Me Cry." Uncle John finishes up the last two songs on the CD, "I-10 Hurricane Blues" and the band's theme song with some power blues featuring his raw vocals an modern blues sound with lightning sax by Brad Andrews, stomping keyboard romps from Farrell and Mike's killer guitar. The Blues Power Theme gives each guy a chance to cut loose.
6th Street is entertaining, diverse and fun! (Joe Hall, Southwest Blues)

Seldom do things work out the way you plant them. I had an idea for an album that would reflect my love for the blues, and my passion for Harleys. My former record label wasn't too interested in the project because they thought it was not going to target the "masses". Of course, I wasn't concerned about that as they were, so I took the idea to Ahab, and as he had seen the power of the music I wanted to record (he has been on the road with me for LONG time) we decided to form Chrome Link Records. We were gonna do one CD to sell at events, especially Bike Week and then I was gonna go back to making straight-ahead blues records, but we had no idea how successful our first CD (Harley In The Rain) would be. It has exceeded our wildest expectations! Our second CD (Twin Brothers of Different Mothers) has also been wildly successful.
So now this is our third CD on Chrome Link Records. Who woulda thought? Anyway, this is our third offering, and the reason we named it "LIVIN' LARGE" is because that reflects how I feel about this project. This is our largest production yet, with some of Nashville's best musicians and vocalists, also a guest appearance by the Legendary Buddy Miles, that's right, the drummer for Jimmi Hendrix's band of gypsies and Santana's lead singer! Man this was a dream come true for me! Also, our affiliation with one of the largest motor parts distributors, Chrome Specialties, has rounded out our theme of this album. Now you know why I really feel like I'm LIVIN' LARGE!!! (http://bigmikegriffin.com/)

Genre: Blues

The blues is our passion... Your good time our goal
In 1996-1997 a band by the name of "The Night Time Heroes" was founded in the region of Aalst (Belgium). Peter Bronder (guitar), Karel Meganck (vocals & harmonica) and Jacky Verstraeten (bass) were among the founding members. Stany Van Veer (keyboards) joined us a bit later in 1997 and Luc Baetslé (drums) joined the band in March 1999. We changed our name slightly into "The Night Time Heroes Blues Band" in 2001, and published a live CD in 2002. You can find more details about that CD here. Since then, we kept on playing the blues for not having it.
Wherever we perform, in a club, at a streetcorner or at a large stage, fun comes in with our swinging blues. We offer a large variety of blues songs. Chicago- and Texas-blues, but also some "West-Coast" or funky blues. We also added pre-war blues songs (semi-)acoustically performed to our menu, together with some dishes from our own "cuisine"... Blues, feeling , good time and swing, that's what The Night Time Heroes stand for! People who pretend you can't dance on blues music, must come to one of our concerts urgently. Don't forget to put your dancing shoes on...! (http://www.thenighttimeheroes.be/)

Goat Motor 2006 Goat Motor
Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:55:14
Size: 126,33 MB
Album Notes
How do you explain a three piece band with Marshall half-stacks, double-bass drums, and a menacing five-string bass? What if their degrees were in the field of Jazz Performance? What if they listened to Slayer on the way to a show but also refuse to hit the road without a copy of Michael McDonald; The Essential Collection? In what category would you place them if they opened for a punk band? Fusion? Bluegrass? Afro-Beat?
The three members of Goat Motor could probably explain their style of music about as well as they could explain how they came up with the name Goat Motor. One fact remains true; they LOVE music. So much that they now travel with three iPod's on every trip; one for each member and each one equipped with completely different music. It's no secret that Goat Motor does not like to be pigeon-holed and they have proved that by sharing stages with all walks of music. There is a firm belief that if you only listen to one style of music it will alienate you from expanding and growing not only as a musician, but as an individual.
Outside a recent Chicago show someone was overheard asking "so is this a 'Jam Band?'" To that her friend replied, "It's Rock n' Roll. They Rock."
No words ring more true when describing Goat Motor's debut self-titled LP. Working with prominent Chicago producer Rick Barnes, Goat Motor meticulously replicates their hard-driven Rock and Blues live show with 10 selected original compositions. Each track - featuring lead and backing vocals by all three members - with a different story to tell; lyrically and instrumentally. Fire Water offers a more straight-forward Rock piece absent of the extended improvised guitar solos and jams coveted by several of the bands past heroes. Settle Down best signifies the groups transition from a mere 3 piece "Jam Band" to the hard-hitting Rock n' Roll power trio it has become. Fan favourite High & Mighty (not to be mistaken with a recent release by former power-trio Gov't Mule - which was written two years after) takes a tongue-in-cheek stab at the world of Rock asking the eminent question "How Can You Rock?" Three Brothers offers a more sincere side to the band featuring stellar lyrics and vocals by drummer Dan McMurray. Without even having intentions on releasing How Could I Be So Blind (appositely known as HCIBSB or as the band pronounces it "Hick-a-bips") it delivers a prompt funk feel infrequently heard in recent Goat Motor pieces. The album closes out with Badlands in which the band experiments in a heavy "Sabbath-esque" tuning rounding out quite possibly the only way to describe this band; Hard-driven Rock & Blues.
After three years travelling and road-testing each song, this LP offers everything and more to the listener. It is 100% raw with not one stone left unturned, not one groove left un-crunched, and not one ass left un-kicked when you throw this 11 track masterpiece in to your preferred listening device. It may have taken nearly two years to make this album, but it was worth every minute.

The Back Alley Saints 2008 All The Fortune, All The Fame
Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:42:53
Size: 98,12 MB
Album Notes
Remember when musicians weren't put in a box and were allowed to create their own sound? Remember when artists mixed equal parts BLUES, ROCK, SOUL, FUNK, and GOSPEL to create music that was timeless? Remember when songs were SUPPOSED to be longer than 3 minutes and 15 seconds? Well, remember no more, people! Out of Nashville TN come The Back Alley Saints with a brand of music that has one foot firmly planted in the classrooms of the old school yet with a sound completely relevant today.
Built on the firm foundation grooves of drummer Ray Gonzales and bassist Keith Kenyon, The Saints live shows are a back road full of twists and turns... honeysuckle and muddy water...one minute going 100 miles and hour and then, all at once, braking on an unseen dime to take it all in. Guitarist Andy Jones navigates each genre with relative ease providing power and subtlety in heavy doses. Jones' molasses soaked guitar tone is one of the true high points in the music. Rounding out the lineup is songwriter and lead vocalist Brother Wells. Wells' vocals are tough to categorize but one thing is for sure...Wells would've felt right at home in Macon, Memphis, or Muscle Shoals. Singing with the fervour of a street corner prophet at times Wells has the ability to turn any Saints show into an old school revival!
All that said, The Back Alley Saints are not your stereotypical jam band content to noodle away for minutes on end but- without question- a band built on strong songs that definitely lives for the "jam"! Gonzales may have summed The Saints up the best when he offered this, "...we're intent on taking people on a journey, of sorts, both musically and lyrically. There are elements of what we do that point to the "jam" band scene, I guess, but I think there's way more to it than that. It's a bit more accessible and that could have something to do with what we're trying to say from a lyrical standpoint."

James Cotton Blues Band 2002 35th Anniversary Jam
Genre: Blues
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:53:09

Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Don't complain that there are too many guests here -- that's what this jam was all about, inviting a bunch of friends and kindred spirits to jam in the studio during June of 2001. These musicians were here to salute not just the great James Cotton and his songs, but the long life of his classic James Cotton Blues Band, by playing some of their greatest songs and having a good time. And that's what this is -- a good jam session, performed with heart and vigor. Some of the guests might be a bit better than others, but the band is lively, there's more grit than you'd expect for an all-digital production, and Cotton has moments where he simply smokes. He's constantly a joy to hear; listen to how he breaks into "Jingle Bells" during "The Creeper" and try not to smile. Sure, this isn't the first James Cotton album you should get, or even the fifth, but if you've been a longtime fan, you'll have fun with this.

Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 192 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:36:58

Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
So named because this consists of Skynyrd's earliest recordings and was released after the tragic plane crash, thereby seeming to close the door on the band's career, Skynyrd's First and...Last is more than a simple historic curiosity, but not too much more. This music is more notable for being interesting -- in how it's possible to hear Ronnie VanZant coming into his own as a writer, or hearing future Blackfoot leader Ricky Medlocke's early songs -- than it is for being good, which it certainly is. Taken on its own, separated from the rest of the group's catalog, this would likely be seen as a great forgotten hard rock album from an obscure Southern outfit, but since Skynyrd went on to greater things, this winds up as a footnote -- enjoyable

Genre: Rock

The Guvs’ sound, which has been described as “a passionate, jubilant slice of rock meets Americana,” is accomplished through a sturdy foundation of gritty guitar tones and tight rhythms, accented with smooth harmonies, crunchy Hammond organ, bluesy piano and vigorous lead guitar solos. The soulful melodies and catchy choruses come courtesy of the band’s front man, James Trimble, who has drawn comparisons to Jagger, Morrison, and Springsteen in terms of both voice and energy. The finished delivery is a “must see live act” that was accurately described by a recent review in Nashville’s Music Connection Magazine – “The Dirty Guv’nahs possess a vintage zest that’s simple enough to attract a variety of listeners, yet a sound mature enough to capture a grizzled industry veteran. This band doesn’t just play music; they capture the human spirit through song.”

Rambler 2004 First Things First
Genre: Southern Rock
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:40:57
Size: 93,69 MB
Rambler hails from the deep south of the Florida Everglades. Influenced by the greatest southern rock bands also from Florida, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet - Rambler has made southern rock history on their own terms by selling close to 40,000 CDs without any management or record label backing them up. This is the kind of spirit legend are made of...
Rambler was started by singer/songwriter Pat Terranova, who in 2003 hooked up with Rich Pierce (guitar and vocals) and together they put together an amazing line up of talented musicians: After adding drummer, James Porreca, guitarists Adam Jason and Sam J. Jim Marcotte's walking bass underlies some brass riffs that'll knock your socks off. Dennis Geyer's guitar makes you want to get up an dance. Terry Anderson's drum work is solid and lays a great foundation for the rest of the band. Howard Wales makes the Hammond sing, and combines with the rest of the group to make you wish every song was longer. The horns are this album were arranged by Dave Roberts, and it's evident that he knows what he's doing. From the first blast, until the last note, they hit you and hold you. This is a solid buy, and it belongs in the collection of every fan of good jazz. blues, or rock. (www.amazon.com)

The Danny Joe Brown Band was formed in 1980 and kept its musical emphasis close to the original style that his former band, Molly Hatchet had originated. The Danny Joe Brown Band was centred around its lead singer, Danny Joe Brown and rest of the band consisted of Bobby Ingram (Guitar), Steve Wheeler (Guitar), Kenny McVay (Guitar), John Glavin (Keyboards), Buzzy Meekin (Bass) and Jimmy Glenn (drums).
The band was signed to the same label that Molly Hatchet was on, Epic Records. It released its only self-titled album in 1981 and featured freebird-like hit Edge of Sundown, song that get still played on Molly Hatchet concerts to this day. Rest of the album was filled with the same old vocals that fans had come to know and love, and it took the Hatchet fans by storm.
The Danny Joe Brown Band toured heavily to promote their new album, but to noticeably smaller crowds than Danny Joe had experienced with Molly Hatchet, although they were billed as the opening act for Blackfoot on that band's highly successful Marauder tour in 1981. Danny Joe Brown replaced the entire band during the east coast leg of the band's US tour from February through May 1982. The new members were a three-guitar line-up featuring Al Tuten, Jimmy Polston and Billy Poovey, bassist Ronnie Able, and drummer Shane Bressette.
The Danny Joe Brown Band called it quits in 1982 soon after getting kicked out from the tour with Foghat, following Danny Joes attack on their tour manager. Danny Joe returned back to Molly Hatchet and stayed with them until his stroke in 1995. (http://www.puresouthernrock.com)
