Album Notes
DIXIE PEACH began playing in 1973 when five kindred spirits decided to team up to create an energetic style of southern blues rock that features cutting edge slide guitar work, intense vocals, and stylistic keyboards. The band honed its talent by barnstorming the southeastern U.S. over a span of several years and serving as an opening act for Joe Walsh, Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent, Roy Bucanon, and others.
Although DIXIE PEACH is a unique band, the influence of classic southern rock and blues artists is evident. Original material is written by TONY PAULUS (guitar, keyboards, and vocals) and IRA STANLEY (lead and slide guitar, and vocals). Other band members include STEVE WILLIAMS (keyboards), JAMES M. ROUSCULP (bass and vocals), and STEVE BENSON (drums and percussion). Each band member is a passionate, skilled musician. In October 2002, guitarist IRA STANLEY earned the "Best Guitarist" award at a competition at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum sponsored by Gibson Guitars.
This CD, BUTTA, includes six original songs that feature creative lyrics, intense lead and slide guitar work, and a hard-driving rhythm section. Also featured on BUTTA, are song tributes to artists that have had a significant influence on the band. These tributes include the Allman Brothers "It's Not My Cross To Bear", Eric Clapton's "Blues Power", and Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing".
