This is such an underrated band. They started back in 89 with Things You've Never Done Before which started them out as a Hair Band and by the way that album rocked. Get it if you can. Although they never made it big they as a band progressed with their later releases of blues influence albums which brings to this studio album Drinking TNT and Smoking Dynamite. This CD ROCKS with blues driven guitar licks and the seering sound of Kevin Steele who has the most underrated voice in the industry. They still rock in local clubs in Florida but if they came to Detroit I would be the first to see them, you people in Florida are a lucky bunch. Can't wait for the next album. "HOT DAMN". Kevin Steele and the Gang serve up a goats head soup of a disc with a heavy cajun accent. Song like "Blues for Maryjane," "Come On In To My Kitchen," and "Shine A Light/This Little Light Of Mine," sound like they were born on the bayou! The Gang throws in a little bit of their classic 70's glam sound on tracks like "Tiger Lily," and "Strawberry Wine." This CD is rock in it's purest form. This CD is Awesome. .... Review by

The Mojo Gurus are the reincarnation of glam rockers Roxx Gang, and the change in style has done them a world of good. They always played a basic kind of down-and-dirty rock & roll, and in their Mojo clothes they're even downer and dirtier than ever. You could call this heavy metal rockabilly or hard rock meets country without being too far off the mark. The subject matter here is pretty basic -- booze, cars, sex, gals good and bad, and a life on the skids -- and the music is even more basic: hard-rockin' crunchers that pummel you into submission with the power of the music and the force of Kevin Steele's howling lead vocals.

"Let's Get Lit," a salute to booze and good times, opens the set on a raucous note with Steve Sobecki's pedal steel adding to the band's orgy of distorted noise. "I Can't Stand to Hear That Song Again" sounds like David Allan Coe fronting the Rolling Stones, which actually isn't such a bad idea. It's a "drinking your blues away" country-rocker that references Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. "Bucket of Blood" is a straight-up roadhouse rocker; "Better of the Bottle" is another boozy hoedown; and "(Just A) Couple of Kicks" adds pills, dancing, and promiscuity to the party. The arrangements get a little more diverse midway through the album, without straying too far from the basic grind. "Rebelene" is hard psychobilly that recalls Eddie Cochran and the Cramps, with Gene Cannon's sax adding some '50s honk to the mix. "Words from an Angel" is almost a spiritual, and proves that acoustic music can be just as greasy as rock. "Price I Pay" is a strutting R&B grinder that rides a simple repeated riff; "Stingray" is an out of control metal surf tune that showcases Doc Lovett's distorted twang and Mark Bustos' relentless drumming; "Nuthin' But a Thang" blends bluegrass banjo, twang-heavy guitar, and a backbeat that'll have you breaking a sweat in no time; while "Party Doll" closes things with some gritty, reverb-drenched rockabilly.

There's nothing earth-shaking here save the volume and the attitude, but those who like their rock loud, fast, and unornamented will find plenty to meditate on in the presence of these Gurus.

September 26, 2005 - Mojo Gurus’ album "Shakin' In The Barn," welcomes you with a bang as track number one titled “Wild, Wild Woman” fills you with a 50’s surfer like, rock tune that is very quick and makes you want to shake what you got.

This CD does not specifically compliment one genre. It is purely a combination of Southern, Classic, Jazz, and Blues rock. It has something for every rock lover.

There are times when you’ll hear an 80's sounding guitar and other times you’ll here a 60's jazz piano. But always, without a fail you’ll be able to tap your foot to an upbeat catchy song. They leave no room for any rock ballads.

This is straight up rock and roll history happening on this album. On track number 9 “Fool’s Hall of Fame” you may even stop and envision people line dancing.

So, if you like a little bit of everything you should pick up this CD and have a little fun with it. Southern rockabilly never killed anyone.

Shake ‘em on down! Backed by Doc Lovett’s rhythm and booze riffs, Vinnie Granese’s thick and black as Mississippi Delta mud bass runs and Mark Busto’s cannon shot voodoo beats, the Mojo Gurus perform real deal rock ‘n’ roll with enough strut and swagger to make most of today’s flavour of the month bands pale in comparison.
