Mighty Lester 2006 We Are Mighty Lester

Genre: Blues
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:43:46
Size: 100,12 MB

Album Notes

Featuring the captivating Todd Dewberry on vocals, the powerful Mighty Horns, and a rock-solid rhythm section, Raleigh, North Carolina-based Mighty Lester has the crowd on their feet within seconds of hitting the stage. Drawing on influences from Kansas City, West Coast and Chicago Blues to Memphis Stax Soul, Mighty Lester keeps your hands clappin’, your toes tappin’, and your butt shakin’ all night long. Formed in 2000 as a trio, they quickly expanded to a seven-piece with harmonica and two saxes. After their first club gig, the core of the band decided to kick it up a notch. They let the saxes, harp and keys go and brought in a full horn section, new keys man and dropped the harp altogether. Hitting the stage in September 2001 for their first live gig with the new line-up they were crowned the champions of the Triangle Blues Society 2001 Blues Competition and made the semi-final round in the 2002 International Blues Challenge.

Doyle Bramhall 1994 Bird Nest On The Ground

Genre: Blues

Time: 00:46:31

Review by Steven McDonald

Well, they say the best things in life are worth waiting for -- drummer Bramhall started recording this tasty blues-rock album in 1980, wrapping it up in 1992 -- here it is, out on Antone's in 1994. Not a shabby effort, either -- Bramhall has that big smoky Bob Seger kind of voice, and the music is muscular and warm, a friendly, welcome bar-rock kind of sound. Good stuff, I say.

How would one define Thomas B. GOODE? Well, he's "Just" a... Twelve (12) years old French musician! With the DOUBLE STONE WASHED band, he showed his fantastic virtuoso skills on guitar on his debut album purposely called "Live" (1997). His influences mainly come from Stevie Ray VAUGHAN and Jimi HENDRIX, showing a wild and catchy blues-rock, with Tom PRINCIPATO-like solos. What's more, his fellow musicians are particularly gifted ones too, especially the singer. Before the NAWFEL mania, this young prodigy proved that youth and excellence can get along in blues language! (http://www.musearecords.com)
