Album-Notes:

Ever since the early days of our playing blues in clubs, Petar Miladinovic - Pera Joe has always asked the organizers "Will there be a session?" At that time he was not a part of any band, but he wanted to play. We met on June 2, 1981 in the famous blues club "505", on the third floor of the School of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade, where we played at the final blues evening of the first season of the club. Those were pioneering days of the blues in our country. Pera rapidly improved his playing harmonica much so that he was ready to play with any famous blues artist playing in our country. The visitors who heard him could not believe that such a harmonica player existed here. As an accompanist he contributed substantially to the high quality of the performance and the authenticity of many blues star's appearances. I can say that at that time there were few so well prepared domestic players as he was. In time he increased more and more his playing and blues "mileage" appearing with his own bands (Village Blues Band; Bar Blues Band; Raw Hide; Blues Trio; Blues Explosion; Di Luna Blues Band) while, at the same time, he was a regular guest player in many other blues bands. Of course, he participated at numerous playing sessions at blues clubs throughout the country. He was often invited as a studio musician to play with rock musicians, but even then he would add the blues touch to the sound with his harmonica. However he made the most recordings and success with Blues Trio, whose member he is to this day. After more than two decades of presence on our blues scene, Pera Joe has drawn attention not only of the public but also of the younger blues musicians who wanted to learn how to play the blues or the harmonica. He has been helping them unselfishly, so that his followers and pupils play today in clubs, carrying on the heritage of the greatest harmonica player ever in these parts. With his appearances here and abroad he has acquired a great many friends and admirers, which led to his guest appearances at the international harmonica musicals and as a jury member at the First European Competition in 1996 at Trossingen (Germany) under the patronage of the Hohner company. That was a great recognition for him but also for the Yugoslav blues. Yugoslav blues?... Yes, that certainly is Pera Joe "The Session Man" who still enriches us with noble sounds of harmonica.
